I got annoyed this morning. Really annoyed. I read a blog of aperson I until recently have thought to be quite sensible person.
Namely Rosa Meriläinen, the person I was going to vote to be my parliament representative in the next parliamentary election.
I’ve only heard rumours of why the Green league representatives (excluding Oras Tynkkynen and Jyrki J. J.Kasvi) voted about the copyright law the way they did. Apparently their reason was something like “the current old copyright law is bad, and we need to update it. The artists’s rights need to be bettered (no matter that the consumers rights aren’t thatwell taken into account)”. What a lameass reason! Apparently the idiots didn’t realize that there are more consumers than artists and artists are also consumers…
Anyway. Here’s what got me really pissed off:
… me and Irina (Krohn) went to Gramex winter season opening party to get compliments on the new copyright law. It was really therapeutic, for the amount of negative comments was huge when the matter was more in the public. Now we had the chance to enjoy all the torrential compliments we got from wonderful men. I have to confess though, that not all understood to compliment us spontaneusly so they needed to be guided and a bit forced.

What a load of CRAP!
I’m willing to give every artist the credit and money for the things they’ve done and achieved, given I like what they’re doing and use their work. But that the artist would have a say on how I use their work… that’s a bit too much. I understand that I don’t have the right to alter their work as I please without their permission, but I consider their work as the actual piece of art, not the canvas it’s expressed on. I’ll break copy protection whenever possible, be it legal or not, if it’s the only way to get the music that I’ve bought on CD to my mp3-player. So sue me. I think I’ll once the law takes effect
- either
- go buy a copyprotected CD
- break the protection with my l447 Linugxxxss h4X0R machine
- give myself in to the police for breaking the law
- or
- put up dvddecss2 file download site and wait for the police tocome to arrest me
I’ll eagarly wait when Finnish juridical system will start to hog up with the breakers of the copyright law. Sucks to be you, Ms. Karpela.
