Hectic new lifestyle

I’ve kept my promise and started doing some walking since week ago Sunday. My SO gave me his heart rate monitor and said that if I used it, I wouldn’t get so tired. And for once he was right! Actually it made walking more fun since my heart rate is at a reasonable level and I can actually do it for an hour easily. For excersice purposes I keep my heart rate at 130-145bpm, since I’m in a pretty bad shape (I’ve always hated most kinds of sports!).

And I actually am buying a heart rate monitor of my own next month on payday. I’ve been thinking of Polar F11, since it has all the necessary features but nothing too much. The only thing that worries me is the size of it, but I probably won’t be using it for other occasions than excersice, so that doesn’t matter that much then.

I even went and bought jogging pants and sports bra on Tuesday, and nordic walking poles on Thursday, and installed Kipinä on my laptop yesterday. Bad omens ;-)

On related news, we also bought a new scale yesterday. I like it a lot, since I lost 2,5kg’s instantaneously with it ;-)

That diagram was courtesy of my recent coding project, update to my blogging tool. It now has not only the blogging form, but also a tool to put some new values to the weight diagram and to remind me of some important reaccurring events by sending email to me. Pretty nifty.

On related news of that, I reinstalled my laptop last week. It now has dualboot; W2K with 6 programs installed after necessary updates: Firefox, 7-zip, Avast Antivirus, Civilization 3, Sea3D and the software for my future purchase the heart rate monitor (did you really expect me to not be a nerd to pick a heart rate monitor of with which a nerd can’t have fun by uploading training info etc to the ‘Net? CMON!!1 ;-D) and Xubuntu.

Xubuntu has been a positive surprise though not as positive as I expected. I love the lightweight apps included with it and have tried to look for similar kind of apps. So far found are: sshfs, wxSFTP and Transmission.

And on the studying front I went for the class of coaching for writing the final paper this evening…
